Features, not brands, are important to Canadians when shopping for appliances

Here’s an interesting article from CBC news about what Canadians look for when buying a new appliance. It seems that appliance features and not brand names, sell appliances.

According to the story, “A New York-based research firm found a majority of Canadians were motivated more by features on appliances rather than brand loyalty. Nearly six out of 10 Canadians cited product features as an important reason for selecting a particular brand.”

Canadians also used the web when shopping for appliances. According to the story, “four in 10 consumers reported consulting at least one online information source prior to shopping for a major appliance.”

Online comments left by web users felt that an appliance with a brand name no longer guarantees a quality product. Read the online comments for yourself here. Do you agree?
